Andrew Fowler-Watt was a Choral Scholar at St John's College and received scholarships to Eton and Cambridge, where he studied English. He came to Sri Lanka after teaching in renowned British Independent Schools as an English teacher, Sports Coach, Director of Drama, Housemaster, and Headmaster.
In 2007, Andrew and his wife, Vivienne decided to move overseas to become part of the growing Internationalization of the British Education system. After 4 years in Sri Lanka, as Principal of Colombo International School and The British School, he moved to Brunei to become Principal of Jerudong International School, Brunei.
In January 2016, he was delighted to move back to Sri Lanka, where he has become Principal of Trinity College, Kandy.
As the founder of Brightly College, he believes in preserving traditional values such as academic rigors, discipline, and respect while also fostering innovation, freedom of thought, and Individualism. Andrew's objective is to develop new opportunities for Sri Lanka's future. He goes a step further by developing personal relationships with students and parents and giving them one-on-one attention.
Director of Innovation and Learning
Tom Cassidy is Brightly's Director of Innovation and Learning.
He is an education visionary with an Oxford Physics degree and a strong grasp of both educational practice and leadership.
Tom has over 15 years of teaching experience in the UK, Spain, Hong Kong, China, and Qatar, as well as considerable experience as Vice-Principal and Principal across schools and academic groups.
He is an outspoken supporter of accelerated and collaborative learning, and has created many teacher training frameworks that have been used by over 20,000 teachers globally, as recognized by the Guardian in 2014. Tom is an internationally published author of multiple creative problem-solving books, as well as an entrepreneur who creates platforms for learning, creativity, and implementation.
Lead Lecturer - Psychology
Rihaab holds an MSc in Health and Clinical Psychology from the University of West London.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology from Missouri University of Science and Technology.Her career in psychology was launched by this undergraduate program, which gave her a strong foundation in human behavior, cognitive processes, and psychological assessment.
In addition to her academic success, Rihaab has demonstrated her journalist abilities while working for Wijeya Newspapers Ltd. Her ability to communicate clearly and concisely while presenting complicated ideas has improved as a result of this experience.
Lead Lecturer - Economics and Computer Science
Tony has a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Westminster, where he developed a solid foundation in software development, computer programming, and algorithms.
He is currently in the reading stage of his Master of Economics (MEcon) program at the University of Colombo because of his love for fusing economics and technology.
Tony worked as a data scientist before joining Brightly College, where he used his analytical abilities to draw conclusions from large datasets, create forecasting models, and guide data-driven decision-making. He now has a realistic understanding of how economics and computer science are used in everyday situations because of his professional experience.
